Ben Stokes Taking U-Turn From Retirement? The English Skipper Reacts

Ben Stokes, the skipper of the English cricket team must be pretty disappointed as his team wasn’t able to win the fourth test match because rain spoiled their chances of leveling the series and now the Aussies will retain the Ashes even if England wins the last test match.

Nowadays, the majority of the cricketers focus on one or two formats rather than playing all the three formats as they want to manage their workload. The English skipper Ben Stokes has also taken retirement from the ODI format in order to focus on test matches and T20Is but there were some rumours as per which he may take a U-turn as far his retirement is concerned because the ODI World Cup is round the corner.

The ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held in India from 5 October this year and many English cricket fans were hoping that Ben Stokes would reconsider his decision of retirement from ODIs.

Earlier in November last year when Ben Stokes was asked about it, he said, “… who knows how I might feel towards a World Cup at the time. Going to a World Cup is an amazing thing to do, to represent your country. But at the moment I’m not even thinking about that.”

However, now Ben Stokes is quite clear as to what he wants and he has confirmed that he is retired and he will take a break from cricket after Ashes series. He said, “I’m retired. I’m going on holiday after this game and that’s as far as I’m thinking.”

So here you go, Ben Stokes won’t be playing in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
