Every day we get to hear about online frauds that are taking place and in the majority of these incidents, there is one thing common and that is carelessness of the victim. The government, banks and other institutions are carrying out campaigns, advertisements, etc. in order to make people aware of online frauds and instruct them not to make some particular mistakes but the same mistakes are being repeated by people on a regular basis.
A 27 years old female software engineer from Bengaluru got cheated by some people who promised her to offer a part-time online job. The woman lives in the Sarjapur area of the city and she lost Rs. 60 lakh in a week (September 11-19).
It all started after the woman got a text message about a part-time job and when she clicked the link, she was directed to a Telegram group. She received Rs. 100 after she reviewed some hotel and in the beginning, she got a small amount for the review work.
After some time, the fraudsters told her about an investment opportunity which could give her huge returns and soon she started investing money in that. She invested not only her own money but the money of her mother-in-law as well and invested around Rs. 60 lakh. However, when she didn’t get the job that she was promised, she understood that she had been robbed.
Well, we once again request our readers to be alert and cautious and not give a chance to fraudsters to rob you.
