Sooraj Barjatya’s 1989 blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya, which catapulted Bhagyashree and Salman Khan to stardom, has returned to theaters. However, behind the scenes, Bhagyashree was facing significant personal struggles.
In a recent interview, the beautiful actress revealed that she was in tears while shooting the iconic song “Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali” due to the intense stress of her parents opposing her marriage and it was Salman who kept consoling her when she cried after every shot.
The on-screen chemistry between Bhagyashree and Salman Khan was beloved by fans, and the two shared a strong bond off-screen as well. Bhagyashree reminisced, “Salman was a brat and really naughty on set. He would constantly tease me.” She also recalled their close friendship, noting that Salman was very protective and always ensured her safety, especially in crowds.
With Rajshri Productions re-releasing the romantic musical in theaters for its 35th anniversary on August 23, fans are buzzing with excitement. While Gen-Z audiences are eager to experience the film on the big screen for the first time, millennials are ready to relive the nostalgia.
In an interview, Bhagyashree said, “To think that a whole new generation will experience the magic of Maine Pyar Kiya onscreen is just incredible! It’s a timeless love story and to have it connect with young hearts today is like watching the film come alive again. I’m eager to see how Gen-Z resonates with the pure, simple romance we portrayed.”
