Anyone who regularly books cabs these days knows the feeling—every ride seems to cost a little more than the last. What used to be a quick, affordable trip across town now feels like an unexpected dent in the wallet. For many commuters, the prices have climbed so high that a simple city ride can feel almost as expensive as travelling to another state.
This growing frustration came to life recently when a man shared a post online that struck a chord with thousands. Instead of just complaining about the high rates, he made a comparison that instantly grabbed attention: the cost of a cab ride within NCR versus the cost of a flight ticket. And surprisingly, the cab ride turned out to be the more expensive option. The stark difference left people amused, shocked, and eager to talk about how unusual these prices have become.
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), he shared two screenshots—one showing a Delhi-to-Leh flight priced at ₹1,540, and another showing a cab fare from Gurugram to Greater Noida priced at ₹1,952. His caption summed up the disbelief perfectly, noting that travelling to Ladakh by air was now cheaper than crossing NCR by cab.
The flight listing looked like any other—details of a one-and-a-half-hour journey, the airline, and a fare that seemed quite reasonable. In contrast, the cab screenshot showed an everyday Go Sedan option, arriving in just three minutes but costing nearly two thousand rupees for a single ride. Seeing the two images side by side made the point clearer than words ever could.
The post has since sparked conversations about how unpredictable and steep urban travel costs have become, with many people sharing their own surprising fare stories. It’s a reminder of how daily conveniences can sometimes turn into unexpected expenses—ones that make even a flight across the mountains seem like the cheaper choice.
