Concerns are mounting over whether the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be able to complete the renovation work at venues set to host the Champions Trophy 2025 within the given deadline. According to a recent report, meeting the timeline appears to be “absolutely impossible,” raising further doubts about Pakistan’s preparedness for the highly anticipated tournament.
The Champions Trophy, making its return after an eight-year hiatus since 2017, will feature eight teams. However, as reported by Pakistan’s English daily Dawn, the completion of renovation work within the stipulated time seems highly unlikely. Despite this, officials overseeing the project remain optimistic about finishing it on schedule.
Matches for the tournament are scheduled to take place across three venues: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the Indian team is expected to play its matches in Dubai, following the Hybrid Model arrangement.
On Tuesday, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to assess the progress of renovations. He reaffirmed his confidence in meeting the deadline, assuring that the board would take control of the upgraded venues by January 31.
Let’s wait and watch!
