On Wednesday, in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior officials, BJP leader Vishnu Deo Sai took the oath of office as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in Raipur. BJP politicians Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma also took oaths as Chhattisgarh’s deputy chief minister at the swearing-in event. After a week of speculation, the BJP announced Vishnu Deo Sai as the next chief minister of Chhattisgarh. Sai is a well-known tribal member of the party. In the assembly elections held last month, the BJP defeated the Congress with an amazing win.
Vishnu Deo Sai, a well-known ethnic leader in the BJP since 1990, has had several roles within the organization, including chief of the BJP in Chhattisgarh. During the first term of the Narendra Modi-led BJP administration at the Centre, he also served as a federal minister.
Following the BJP’s impressive showing in the state’s tribal-dominated districts, Vishnu Deo Sai was named chief minister of Chhattisgarh.The party was able to overturn the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress administration and take power thanks to its victory in 17 of the 29 seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs).
