The five times champion, Chennai Super Kings was going pretty good initially in the IPL 2024 but now they have fumbled as they have won only 2 matches in the last 5 matches that they have played and they need to improve their performance considerably if they want to enter the play-offs.
Yesterday, CSK lost the match against Punjab Kings by 7 wickets, the match was played at MA Chidambaram stadium, Chennai and CSK batted first after losing the toss. CSK batters were not able to score runs easily excluding skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 62 runs and helped his team in posting a respectable total of 162/7 at the scoreboard. PBKS successfully chased the target in 17.5 overs and every CSK fan was left disappointed with the performance of their team.
CSK coach Stephen Fleming feels that injuries and unavailability of key players is the reason behind CSK’s poor performance. He said, “Deepak Chahar doesn’t look good. Initial feeling wasn’t great. So we are waiting for more positive report. Physio and doctors will have a look. Sri Lankan boys are off to get visa. So we are hoping that their process is smooth. And we get them back for our next game up north (at Dharamshala). Richard Gleeson was good, he was positive.”
Fleming further added, “Tushar Deshpande got flu, so we had to make a few changes today, which is a bit unusual. But again that’s part of it and we have got resources. It’s just they haven’t got time to be comfortable about their roles and us to be comfortable with the game plan that we are struggling with.”
CSK is at the fourth spot in the IPL 2024 but still they can’t afford to lose so many matches.
