Commercial LPG Costs Rise as Oil Marketing Firms Adjust Prices

The price rise for commercial LPG petrol cylinders has been published by oil and marketing company (OMCs), which is expected to have an effect on both consumers and businesses.

Formal sources state that beginning of November 1, the retail cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG gas cylinder in Delhi will increase by Rs 101, to a total of Rs 1833 per cylinder.

The price of 19 KG commercial LPG gas cylinders was increased by Rs 209 by public sector oil and gas companies on October 1. This price modification comes after that first increase.

The revised price in Delhi is now Rs 1731.50 as a result of this modification, up from Rs 1522.50 from the previous month.

5.8% price drop for ATF

After four rounds of monthly hikes since July, the price of jet fuel, or ATF, was reduced by over 6%.

According to a price announcement from state-owned fuel merchants, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) was reduced by ₹6,854.25, or 5.79%, in the national capital, to ₹1,11,344.92 per litre from ₹1,18,199.17.

The price reduction follows four rounds of rate rises, the most recent of which took effect on October 1 and increased prices by ₹5,779.84 per kilo, or 5.1%. ATF prices have risen by the sharpest 14.1% (₹13,911.07 per kl) on September 1st and 8.5% (₹7,728.38 per kl) on August 1st, respectively, before that.

On July 1, the price of ATF went up 1.65%, or ₹1,476.79 per kilogram. ATF prices have increased by a record ₹29,391.08 per kilo in four rises.

The reduction in jet fuel prices on Wednesday will help airlines that are already struggling financially, as jet fuel accounts for 40% of an airline’s operational costs.

Similar price hikes for a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder were seen in other major cities, with Kolkata seeing a rise to ₹1,839.50, Mumbai to ₹1,684.00, and Chennai to ₹1,898.00. Business owners, notably shopkeepers and restaurateurs, have expressed great worry over the price increase. Currently, retailers are pushing the government to act to reduce inflation and lessen the financial strain on small companies.

According to governmental rules and market conditions, monthly modifications for both household and commercial LPG (liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinders take place on the first day of each month. OMCs adopted a different strategy in August, lowering the cost of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹99.75 to provide some respite to customers and companies. The cost of commercial LPG petrol cylinders has increased, which is difficult for companies already facing inflation and highlights the need for legislative measures to stabilize pricing and assist small businesses in these difficult times.
