The popular Indian sitcom “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” (TMKOC) has long been a favourite among television viewers but it seems that there may be some turbulence behind the scenes. Gurucharan Singh, who was beloved by fans for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi, has made headlines with a bold request to the show’s creator, Asit Kumarr Modi.
Gurucharan Singh is urging Modi to remove Balwinder Suri, who replaced him in the role, and to reinstate him as Sodhi.
A source talked about the meeting that took place between Gurucharan Singh and Asit Kumarr Modi and said, “When Gurucharan met Asit Modi recently in Mumbai, he asked him to remove Balwinder (Singh Suri) from the show. Gurucharan wanted to come back to TMKOC and so he insisted Asit to terminate Suri’s contract. But this is not how it works. Asit had no reason to remove Balwinder suddenly and so he clearly said a no to Gurucharan.”
Gurucharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi, the fun-loving, energetic and devoted family man, from the show’s inception in 2008 till 2012 and then he came back next year and played the character till 2020. His portrayal of the character, known for his iconic turban and catchphrases, won the hearts of millions of viewers. However, due to personal reasons, he stepped away from the show, leading to Balwinder Suri taking over the role.
Despite Suri’s efforts to fill the shoes of his predecessor, many fans have expressed their longing for Gurucharan Singh’s return, citing a sense of nostalgia and a connection to his original portrayal of Sodhi. Singh, it seems, shares this sentiment. According to reports, the actor has approached Asit Modi, requesting that he be brought back to the show, and suggesting that Suri be replaced.
