Court Asks Telangana Minister To Delete Posts About KTR & Samantha-Naga Divorce

A Telangana court has directed state minister Konda Surekha to take down her social media posts accusing KT Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), of involvement in the 2021 divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. The ruling came in response to a defamation suit filed by KTR, who is seeking ₹100 crore in damages.

The controversy began when Konda Surekha, Telangana’s minister for forest and environment, posted allegations on social media suggesting that KTR was responsible for the highly publicized separation of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The posts quickly gained traction, sparking public interest and debate. KTR strongly refuted the claims, calling them unfounded and without any basis in fact.

In response to Surekha’s comments, KTR issued a legal notice demanding a public apology, stating that her allegations were defamatory and damaging to his reputation. When Surekha did not retract her statements, KTR escalated the matter by filing a defamation suit, requesting criminal action and seeking ₹100 crore in damages. He argued that her baseless accusations were aimed at tarnishing his public image.

During the hearing, the civil court in Hyderabad ordered Surekha to remove her posts linking KTR to the actors’ divorce, emphasizing that the allegations lacked merit. This ruling underscores the judiciary’s stance on protecting individuals from unsubstantiated claims, especially when such claims are made by public figures.
