Delhi Police detained two people in a complex work-from-home fraud using YouTube likes and comments. One-day bank transactions of Rs 2 crore were found by police. A National Cybercrime Registration Portal complaint linked 48 complaints to the retrieved bank account, revealing the case.
The Delhi Police uncovered another intricate work-from-home scam that promised money for liking and commenting on YouTube videos. A man was detained and another bound down.
The accused are Sandeep Dalal (31) and Chanchal Singh (43) Singh is bound while Dalal’s ancestors are verified, police say.
Police found a frozen bank account where the defrauded money was sent, with a Rs 2 crore transaction in one day. “After further investigation, 48 complaints registered on the National Cybercrime Registration Portal (NCRP) are linked to the recovered bank account,” stated DCP (North) Manoj Kumar Meena.
The fraud was discovered by police after Sadar Bazar resident Deepak Kumar filed an NCRP report. He claimed he received a WhatsApp message promising a work-from-home job on August 29.
When he showed interest, he was given YouTube videos to like and comment on. He did these activities and collected Rs 450 in his bank account within minutes. The next day, the complainant had to repeat the duty. However, he was urged to deposit Rs 800 for more lucrative duties, said a police officer.

DCP Meena said the complainant submitted the funds and received Rs 10,400 for liking and commenting on more videos. The DCP stated that the complainant was naïve and lost Rs 4,25,000 before realizing he had been scammed.
After a case was filed, authorities examined call detail data and the money trail and monitored suspected mobile phones.
“We checked beneficiary account money trails and found one… This bank account was held by Sagarpur inhabitant N Singh. The DCP said she confessed that her spouse, Chanchal Singh, ran her account during questioning.
Then Chanchal was questioned. He told police that while his daughter was being treated at AIIMS Jhajjar, he received a WhatsApp message promising a WFH job like YouTube videos.
“He accepted because he needed money. His initial payment was Rs 1,600. Later, he was urged to deposit money to earn more but couldn’t. After a few days, he was again contacted on WhatsApp and requested to supply bank account data, which would earn him Rs 25,000 quickly. Dhruv Mor received Chanchal’s wife’s bank account information. DCP Meena said Sandeep Dalal was sent to Chanchal to acquire SIM cards for this bank account so he could control its activity.
On October 11, police arrested Dalal after raiding multiple Rohtak locations. He admitted working for Dhruv when questioned by police. “He further disclosed that on Dhruv’s directions, he operated different mobile phone accounts and SIM cards and provided OTPs,” the officer added.
Police are searching for Dhruv and other suspects in the scheme.
