Tamil cinema icons Dhanush and Nayanthara attended producer Aakash Baskaran’s wedding this week but notably avoided each other during the event.
A video circulating online shows both actors seated in the front row, positioned at opposite ends, and not engaging with one another. This marks their first public appearance together since Nayanthara’s open letter addressing Dhanush went viral.

The tension between the two stems from a legal dispute over Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. Dhanush, who produced the 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara and her team for using behind-the-scenes footage from the film without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
In response, Nayanthara issued an open letter claiming she had sought the NOC for two years without a response from Dhanush’s team and criticized his behavior.
The wedding, attended by prominent figures from the Tamil film industry, including Nayanthara’s husband, director Vignesh Shivan, highlighted the ongoing rift between the two stars. Their lack of interaction at the event underscores the unresolved nature of their professional and personal differences.
