Dhoni Might Not Play All Games: Gayle Has A Different Take On MSD Leaving CSK Captaincy

The defending champions CSK started the IPL 2024 in a perfect manner as they defeated RCB by 6 wickets in the opening match of the tournament.

While everyone expected MS Dhoni to lead CSK in this season as this could be his last season as a player, the franchise surprised all and sundry by appointing Ruturaj Gaikwad as the new skipper.

There is no denying the fact that age is not on the side of MS Dhoni and last year, he played the whole tournament with knee injury; in fact, he underwent knee surgery just after the IPL 2023 got over.

A lot is being said about the manner in which MS Dhoni gave up the captaincy and the former West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle has a very interesting take on it. While speaking on Jio Cinema, Gayle said that it may be because MS Dhoni may take a break in between. This is what Gayle said, “He (MS Dhoni) might not play all games. There may be a little break in between for him. That’s why the decision. But MSD will go well, don’t worry about that.”

While fans of MS Dhoni want to see him bat more, his batting number has been demoted to number 8 which means that he won’t be doing much with the bat in the tournament but he will still play the role of wicketkeeper and mentor to Gaikwad.
