The underperformance of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter has left many people baffled because the movie has been praised by not only critics but also audiences and movie celebs.
Siddharth Anand is also very disappointed and recently he made a cryptic post on his Instagram story in which he posted a quote which read, “Your biggest fan is a stranger. Your biggest hater is someone you know” and he captioned the quote with, “Hahaha, what a thought.”
Many Instagram users felt that this post must be for Yash Raj Films as it is being said that Siddharth Anand is not directing the sequel of War despite the fact that the first part was directed by Siddharth and it was a big hit at the box-office.
Fighter also stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Sanjeeda Sheikh and others in important roles and it is inspired by the aerial surgical strikes which were carried out by the Indian Air Force in Balakot after a terrorist attack happened in Pulwama.
In an interview, Siddharth Anand talks about why his movie failed at the box-office. He said, “Fighter is a huge leap. As filmmakers do this in the country, and the kind of genre it is. It’s a space that is unexplored, and is absolutely new. It has no reference point for the audience, that means what they are seeing is a little… accha… such big stars, a commercial director, accha ye planes kya kar rahi he [what are these planes doing?] I am like is this my film, I don’t know this.”
Why did Fighter fail at the box-office according to you?
