Diljit Dosanjh’s Embarrassing Moment: Behind the Scenes of Chamkila

When “Amar Singh Chamkila,” starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, was first made available on Netflix, it immediately became popular. Although many people praised Diljit Dosanjh’s performance, the movie’s soundtrack was also highly regarded. The movie’s song “Naram Kaalja” in particular became popular on social media. The Chamkila Album’s director Imtiaz Ali and composer AR Rahman were highly commended by critics.

When ladies performed Naram Kaalja

In a recent interview, Imtiaz Ali related a story from the song Naram Kalja. He disclosed that none of the female competitors in Naram Kaalja had before faced the camera. He liked leading this interesting group of Punjabi athletes, college students, and farm labourers. The renowned filmmaker said, “These women had fought with their fathers to stay on the set for those two days.” According to the director, such tunes are even better than Chamkila’s songs if you listen to them. Imtiaz said, “These women were real women of Punjab, they told many such songs which were obscene for others.”

Diljit’s embarrassed face became scarlet

Imtiaz went on to say that he discovered women frequently participate in more pornographic songs than males when filming the song. “The song’s original graphics included Diljit and Parineeti Chopra as characters. The women were singing “obscene” songs while their child was leaving the house. But we didn’t stop there when Diljit and Parineeti’s shoot was over. While I continued to film, the women continued to sing and dance. I had no idea if the music would be included in the movie. Shame was all over Diljit’s face and the faces of the squad.

“Kya Auratein Hain Ye!” inquired Diljit, who was observing from the sidelines, quoting the director.  Imtiaz goes on to add that the way this song was shot ought to be the subject of a movie.
