The former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik recently shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli’s disappointing performance during India’s ODI series against Sri Lanka, where Kohli managed just 58 runs across three matches. Despite Kohli’s struggles, Karthik chose not to harshly criticize him. Instead, he highlighted the challenging pitch conditions in Sri Lanka, particularly emphasizing how difficult it was to face spin bowling on those surfaces.
Karthik acknowledged that Kohli, along with other top Indian batters like Rohit Sharma, found it tough to score runs due to the nature of the pitches, especially during the middle overs when the ball was semi-new.
He noted that while he wasn’t defending Kohli’s poor run, the difficulties were understandable given the conditions. According to Karthik, there is no need for major concern regarding Kohli’s form, as such challenges are a part of the game, particularly on spin-friendly tracks.
Karthik also mentioned that while Kohli’s form might seem alarming, it’s crucial to consider the broader context of how the Indian batsmen have been adapting to spin in recent matches. He remains optimistic that Kohli will bounce back and that there isn’t any long-term issue to worry about.
