India’s prominent wicketkeeper-batsman and commentator, Dinesh Karthik didn’t hold back on Wednesday aiming a sarcastic remark at fellow commentator Michael Atherton. Atherton had previously voiced criticism regarding India’s playing XI selection for the ongoing second Test against England at Edgbaston, suggesting it wasn’t the “perfect XI”.

With the series in its early stages already leaning in England’s favor, the Indian team made some assertive decisions, notably opting to rest key pacer Jasprit Bumrah and excluding spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the lineup. Atherton expressed his view that he would have chosen a different bowling attack, especially given India’s objective to bounce back in the series.

“If I had been in their shoes, it would have been Bumrah for the big game, can’t afford to lose this game. I would have picked Siraj, who I thought improved throughout that game at Headingley,” Atherton remarked while speaking on Sky Sports. He further detailed his preferred selections: “I would have picked the left-armer, Arshdeep Singh, for swing and to create some footmarks by the right-hander’s off stump for Kuldeep Yadav, who I would have also played, and also Ravindra Jadeja.”

In response to Atherton’s detailed critique, Dinesh Karthik quipped, “Good, thank you. I think Gautam Gambhir would appreciate that a lot. You answered it very nicely, all of India would be impressed.”

DK got no chill man.
