Donald Trump’s new social networking app has been branded a disaster. The former US President launched the app as a response to Twitter.
Truth Social, the social networking platform founded by former US President Donald Trump, has been a colossal failure.
Trump established this platform as a response to Twitter, which barred the former US President from using the network after his followers invaded the US Capitol last year.
According to Twitter, Trump falsely claimed that the presidential election had been stolen, sparking the rioting on January 6, 2021.
The BBC evaluated the Truth Social platform, which was created by two engineers, and discovered that there is a waiting list of roughly 1.5 million people who are unable to utilise it.
It was released on February 21st of this year.
Truth Social is not available on Android phones, online browsers, or to anyone residing outside of the United States.
The software is exclusively available for download on iPhones in the United States. Truth Social is not one of the top 100 most downloaded apps, which are dominated by YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Truth Social is plagued by “tech difficulties,” which prohibit the app from being made available to all users.
Devin Nunes, a Trump supporter, stated that the app will be “completely functioning” by the end of March.
A major issue, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, received little attention. This platform, like Twitter, populates a user’s feed with posts from users they follow. According to Business Insider, these posts are called “truths” and are mostly linked-out articles on websites. Bots have taken over the site, according to the publication.
After three weeks, a Business Insider staffer was able to register on the app and utilise it after clearing the waiting. According to the reporter, Truth Social lacks fresh content and has a small number of profiles.
