While her three brothers followed a more traditional route into Bollywood, Dishani Chakraborty, daughter of veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, has taken a unique path to the entertainment industry, making her debut in Hollywood.
Dishani first appeared in the 2017 short film Gift, followed by The Guest in 2022. Both projects earned her critical acclaim, marking her as a promising talent on the rise.
Many may not be aware that Dishani is the adopted daughter of Mithun Chakraborty and his wife, Yogeeta Bali. The couple, who are parents to three sons—Mahaakshay, Ushmey, and Namashi—chose to adopt Dishani after learning about her story in a newspaper. Born in Kolkata, she was tragically abandoned by her parents near a garbage heap shortly after her birth.
A few passersby noticed the abandoned infant, and one kindly took her home. Upon hearing of the baby’s plight, Mithun Chakraborty immediately traveled to Kolkata, expressing his heartfelt desire to adopt the little girl. Yogeeta Bali fully supported her husband’s decision, and together they completed the legal formalities to officially adopt the infant. After bringing her home, they lovingly named her Dishani.
She shares a close bond with both her parents and has chosen to follow in her father’s footsteps, pursuing a career as an actress.
