Renowned television producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, are facing legal issues after a case was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The complaint accuses them of allegedly involving minor girls in inappropriate scenes in the ALTBalaji web series Gandii Baat.
According to reports, the case has been registered against Balaji Telefilm Limited, ALTBalaji, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor at the MHB Police Station in Mumbai. The charges include violations of sections 295A (blasphemy) of the Indian Penal Code, provisions of the IT Act, and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act, which relate to the use of minors in pornographic content. The complaint is connected to Season 6 of Gandii Baat, though the episode in question is no longer available on the platform.
The web series Gandii Baat, an adult comedy-drama directed by Sachin Mohite, streamed on ALTBalaji from February 2021 to April 2021. While the authorities are currently investigating the case, neither Ekta Kapoor nor Balaji Telefilms has issued a statement regarding the allegations
Ekta Kapoor, a prominent figure in Indian television, launched ALTBalaji, her on-demand video streaming platform, in 2017. Known for her iconic television shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Naagin, and Kundali Bhagya, Ekta has been a household name for years. In addition to her success in television, she has produced several films, including Krishna Cottage, Shor In The City, Ragini MMS, and the recent Thank You For Coming and Crew.
Recently, she also produced Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, which explores relationships in a digital world. However, unlike the original film, the sequel did not perform well at the box office
