The India Cellular and Electronics Association reports that the Compulsory Registration Order has sped up parallel testing for electronic items from 16-20 weeks to 8-12 weeks.
The government’s faster electronics testing decision will let OEMs choose the best testing procedure for their products. On Monday, the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) stated this would speed up their electronic product launches.
The 2021 Compulsory Registration Order (CRO) improved product parallel testing by the government.
This innovative method will cut electronic product testing and registration time from 16-20 weeks to 8-12 weeks.
ICEA has regularly raised industry concerns about unjustified delays in acquiring testing certificates for new electronic products.
The leading industry body has been collaborating with BIS, DPIIT, MeitY, and DoCA to achieve this.
In September 2022, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) tested parallel testing for mobile phones to determine its practicality.
BIS expanded this technology to 64 CRO-notified items such wireless earbuds, headphones, computers, notebooks, tablets, and phones after its success.
BIS made parallel testing permanent on January 9.
Conclusion
Under the Compulsory Registration Order (CRO) of 2021, the Indian government has accelerated parallel testing for electronic items, allowing OEMs to choose the best approach. This will cut electrical product testing and registration time from 16-20 weeks to 8-12 weeks. Parallel testing is now permanent for 64 CRO-notified items thanks to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
