The Indian cricket team has been phenomenal in the recently concluded 5-match test series against England as it attained victory by 4-1 and what made this win more special is the fact that team India was playing without their star players – Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami and KL Rahul.
Not just the seniors but the youngsters also played good cricket and rose to the occasion whenever required. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is getting applauded for the manner in which he led and managed his team which included more juniors than seniors but a former England cricketer feels that Rohit Sharma was not the superior skipper between him and Ben Stokes.
The former England spinner Graeme Swann feels that it was not Rohit Sharma but it was his bowlers who played an important role in India’s series win.
In a recent interview, Graeme Swann stated, “I don’t think he has been superior as a captain because his bowlers have done the trick for him. I think he’s got more weapons in his armoury.”
He further added, “He’s been good, don’t get me wrong, Rohit Sharma, but, I don’t think if you pick this apart and say Stokes has captained badly, I think you are barking up the wrong tree there. Rohit Sharma’s bowlers have really come to town for him, come to the party for him, in the last four Test matches, they didn’t in the first one but they have done for the last four.”
