Former Indian cricket head coach Ravi Shastri has expressed confidence that Virat Kohli will continue playing for a few more years. However, regarding Rohit Sharma’s future, Shastri remarked that it is a decision the Indian skipper must make himself. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have faced criticism from fans and experts alike due to their lackluster performances in the ongoing Test series against Australia.
On Day 5 of the fourth Test in Melbourne, during a discussion on Star Sports, commentator Mark Nicholas asked Shastri if this series could mark the end of the road for both players.
Shastri responded, “I believe Virat will continue playing for some time. Forget how he got out or anything like that—I think he has another three or four years left in him. As for Rohit, it’s a matter of personal choice. At the top of the order, his footwork doesn’t seem as sharp, and at times he appears late in meeting the ball. It’s a call he will need to make at the end of this series.”
