FIR Writer Amit Aaryan Slams Kapil Sharma Show, Calls It “Worst In Indian Comedy History”

Kapil Sharma, a household name in Indian comedy, has come under fire from FIR writer Amit Aaryan, who lashed out at the comedian’s latest show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, streaming on Netflix. In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Aaryan called the show “the worst in the history of Indian comedy,” criticizing it for vulgar humor and derogatory content. He expressed concern over the frequent use of below-the-belt jokes, particularly those involving men dressed as women, which he believes undermines respect for women.

Aaryan pointed to characters like Krushna Abhishek’s portrayal of Sapna, remarking, “The men are dressed as women, and these characters always talk below the belt. Women are supposed to be respected, but look at how Krushna Abhishek’s character Sapna only says below-the-belt stuff.”

Aaryan didn’t hold back when criticizing Kapil Sharma’s performance, claiming that it’s the supporting cast—like Kiku Sharda and Krushna Abhishek—who keep the show afloat. He referenced Sharma’s Netflix special, Kapil Sharma: I Am Not Done Yet, as a sign of declining interest in the comedian’s content. “Nobody watched that show because nobody was interested in what he had to say,” Aaryan remarked, further arguing that the humor in Sharma’s shows often revolves around insensitive jokes about physical appearance, which has a negative influence on viewers.

Amit Aaryan also raised concerns about the impact such humor has on Indian households, criticizing the type of comedy that ridicules people’s appearances or resorts to offensive jokes for laughs. He stressed that “everything gets a rating nowadays,” suggesting that such content spreads harmful ideas while gaining popularity for the wrong reasons.
