Flight Delayed: Air India Express Offers Apology for 13-Hour Wait at Mangaluru Airport

The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers after a technical issue caused the Mangaluru-Dubai Air India aircraft India Express to be delayed for 13 hours. 180 travellers were notably left stranded at the airport in Mangaluru.

The flight was supposed to leave at 11.05 p.m. on July 10 but instead took a ferry flight that AIE sent from Thiruvananthapuram at 12.10 p.m. on July 11. The airline said, “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our guests as a result of the delay of the Mangaluru-Dubai flight on July 10th.”

The flight took departure at 12.10 p.m. today after being delayed by more than 12 hours due to a developing technical issue. The airline claimed that a substitute aircraft was scheduled and transported from Thiruvananthapuram to ease the voyage.

The airline asserted that it provided substitute services, such as a subsequent flight on the Mangalore-Trivandrum-Dubai route or hotel lodging. However, according to the Air India Express, the passengers decided to wait for the ferry flight to arrive.

The statement said, “Airline workers made sure that guests had refreshments on a frequent basis. We genuinely appreciate our visitors’ understanding and cooperation in this situation.

Thiruvananthapuram serves as the airline’s repair hub. The original plane that was supposed to carry out Flight IX813 is at TRV getting maintenance. So, instead of leaving IXE at 9.15 am for Dubai on July 11, flight IX 383 (or inbound aircraft IX 814 gets renumbered as IX 383) will now leave IXE at 6.45 pm, according to the airline. At the airport, chaos broke out after the delay.
