Samsung has been neglecting the S-Pen lately. First, it stopped the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s stylus from using Bluetooth. To achieve a thin design, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the company’s latest book-style foldable, also does not support the S-Pen. However, according to a recent claim from South Korea, the tech giant may be aiming to include stylus compatibility in its following Galaxy Z foldable models. They might even get a dedicated slot for it.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Smartphones with S-Pen
Samsung is reportedly working on new technologies for the S-Pen, according to a claim by the South Korean website ETNews. According to reports, Samsung’s Head of Smartphone Product Planning, Kang Min-seok, made this revelation. It seeks to restore support for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold devices’ stylus.
Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the first book-style foldable from the South Korean tech giant that does not support the S-Pen. It made its debut on July 9 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. It continues the trend we’ve observed in recent months, when Samsung first disabled Bluetooth from its stylus on the most current Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Although the latest flagship Samsung Galaxy S phone comes with an S-Pen, it lacks functionality such as hands-free operation, remote camera shutter, and Air activities. The business stated at its debut event that “less than 1 per cent” of consumers used the stylus, which is why the functionality was deleted.
There is still a potential, though, that the stylus will appear in upcoming iterations of the Galaxy Z book-style foldable.
Samsung is reportedly investigating and creating “thinner and more innovative” technology for the stylus, according to the article. As the “level of perfection” rises in tandem with growing consumer demand, the S-Pen will return. The official also emphasised that the company is not only aiming for “thin and light” products, but is also working to achieve a balance in its product line.
