Gautam Gambhir Wants This Ex South African Pacer To Be India’s New Bowling Coach

The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian team and he has also told the BCCI about his choices for the coaching staff.

As per the reports, Gautam Gambhir has recommended the former South African cricketer Morne Morkel for the job of India’s new bowling coach, the board is in talks with the former Proteas player and if everything goes well, he will replace Paras Mhambrey.

Gautam Gambhir and Morne Morkel have played together in Kolkata Knight Riders and they have also worked together as the members of coaching staff in Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons and in both the seasons, LSG entered the play-offs. While Gautam Gambhir left LSG in 2024 and joined KKR as mentor, Morkel stayed in LSG under head coach Justin Langer.

Morne Morkel has played 86 test matches, 117 ODIs and 44 T20Is in which he has taken 544 wickets in total. As per the reports, former Indian pacers such Zaheer Khan, R Vinay Kumar and Lakshmipathy Balaji are also in the race for becoming India’s bowling coach.
