As discussions surrounding work-life balance in the entertainment industry resurface, particularly following Deepika Padukone’s much-debated departure from the film Spirit, actress Genelia Deshmukh has shared her perspective on managing her professional life alongside the demands of motherhood. In a recent conversation with Zoom, Genelia conveyed that while extensive work hours as a mother present challenges, they are far from insurmountable.

“It is tough but it is not impossible,” she revealed. She further elaborated, “I do work for 10 hours a day and there are days when the director asks to extend it to 11 or 12 hours. I think it’s fair but we just need time to make those adjustments. When you have a day or two where you have to overdo, it’s also an understanding and a process that needs to be done.”

The actress, known for her role in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, is currently preparing for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par. This film, a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par, stars Aamir Khan opposite her. It is a remake of the Spanish sports dramedy Champions and tells the inspiring story of a disgraced basketball coach who finds redemption by training a team of children with disabilities. Directed by RS Prasanna, the movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 20.
