For years, one of the more unusual rumors swirling around Genelia D’Souza’s career involved an “accidental marriage” to her Force co-star John Abraham during the filming of their 2011 action movie. Now, the actress has finally addressed these persistent claims, setting the record straight.
In a recent interview, Genelia put an end to the bizarre story that first gained traction in 2012, sparking widespread speculation. The rumor suggested that a real priest was brought to the set to perform a wedding scene between the two actors. This scene reportedly included all the traditional rituals: mantras, garlands, the mangalsutra, and even the seven pheras, leading some to believe it resulted in a legitimate marriage.
Responding to the long-standing gossip, Genelia D’Souza unequivocally stated, “There was no truth to it. We didn’t get married. These stories were spread by PR, and I think you should ask them why they did it.”
The Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na star emphasized that the sensational story had no basis in reality and was entirely a creation of public relations machinery. Despite the story’s viral spread at the time, Genelia asserted that neither she nor John Abraham played any role in promoting the false narrative. Today, Genelia is happily married to actor Riteish Deshmukh. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and are parents to two children. John Abraham is married to Priya Runchal.
