Glenn McGrath Has A Sensible Take On Jasprit Bumrah’s Comeback After 11 Months

The Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to make a comeback with the Ireland tour in which he will be leading the relatively less-experienced side as well. It is quite obvious that all eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah, his bowling, accuracy, form and fitness because he has been away from the game for almost a year now and team India certainly needs him in Asia Cup 2023 and ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Yesterday, the former Aussie pacer Glenn McGrath was in MRF Pace Foundation Academy, Chennai where he had a chat with the reporters and he was pretty positive regarding the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah. He said, “It depends on how the injury is and the sort of expectations he has. I think he will be fine since he is a quality bowler. The layoff will help him, I think. Fast bowlers need that layoff and time to get the strength back in their bodies. It depends on the work he has done off the field, how his back is and if he has done anything to his action. I think he has been there before and he has achieved it.”

When McGrath was asked whether Bumrah will be the same bowler that he was before getting injured, McGrath said, “I haven’t seen him bowl. So, time will tell. Only he knows where he is now. So, I will be watching him keenly to see him get back to where he was. The effort and energy he puts in takes a toll on the body. If he has put enough work on the field, I can’t see a reason why he cannot go back to being where he previously was.”

We are also very eager to see how things proceed in regard to Jasprit Bumrah.
