Going Green and High-Tech: Supreme Court Adopts Paperless Approach, Provides Complimentary WiFi for Lawyers and Litigants

The Supreme Court in India has made free Wi-Fi for lawyers in Courts 1–5, according to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The Supreme Court returned on Monday after the summer recess with a paperless and technologically advanced setup that included free WiFi for lawyers, litigants, and other visitors. The top court has enabled free Wi-Fi in Courts 1 through 5, and soon it will be available in bar rooms, according to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The courtrooms of the Supreme Court now have a modern appearance because to the addition of several pieces of technical equipment. Following its summer break, the Supreme Court reconvened on Monday with a paperless and cutting-edge setting that offered free WiFi to visitors, solicitors and litigants.

The top court has enabled free Wi-Fi in Courts 1 through 5, and soon it will be available in bar rooms, according to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

There won’t be any books or documents, the Chief Justice added, but it doesn’t mean they won’t rely on them at all. The construction of numerous technical facilities, including as more displays and improved video conferencing capabilities, has given the highest court’s courtrooms a contemporary look.

For advocates, litigants, media professionals, and other stakeholders visiting the Supreme Court of India, free Wi-Fi is made accessible as part of the court’s e-initiatives.

With effect from July 3, this facility will be accessible in the Chief Justice’s Court, Court Nos. 2 through 5, the hallway, the plaza in front, both waiting spaces in front of the plaza cafeteria, and Press Lounges I and II.

The facility will gradually be extended to all of the courtrooms and surrounding spaces, the bar libraries I and II, the ladies’ bar room and the bar lounge.
