Google is expanding its Deep Research tool to the Gemini Android app. Until now, Gemini’s first artificial intelligence (AI) agent was limited to the web platform. The tech behemoth from Mountain View unveiled the tool in December 2024, describing it as a research assistant that can conduct web searches, develop multi-step study plans, and produce in-depth reports on intricate subjects. Notably, only Gemini’s paying subscribers can yet use the agentic capability.
An AI Agent for Deep Research Is Added to the Android Gemini App
Gemini’s official X account (previously known as Twitter) revealed the AI agent’s expansion in a post. According to the post, users worldwide may not see the functionality on the Android app for a few weeks as it is still being rolled out. Deep Research is available in the Gemini Advanced drop-down menu after its introduction.
The service will be accessible in 45 languages, including Arabic, Bengali, English, French, Japanese, Russian, Tamil, and Vietnamese, according to the company’s announcement at launch. Deep Research can serve as a research aid for the user and is powered by the newly released Gemini 1.5 Pro.
The AI agent develops a multi-step study plan when a prompt regarding a complicated subject has been added. The user can review and modify the plan to add, remove, or change items in the list. It then searches for pertinent information through articles, research papers, and other reliable sources. It also examines current trends, recent advancements in the field, and prospects for the future.
If the AI agent thinks it needs more context from other topics, it can perform multiple new web searches. The agent creates a thorough report on the subject after gathering sufficient data. The user can take charge at any time during the entire process.
To learn more about the subject, the agent can also conduct several fresh web searches based on his learning. The agent creates a thorough report after it has sufficient data. At any stage, the user can step in and change the study strategy or add a follow-up prompt to change the results.
