Bollywood actor Govinda was discharged from a Mumbai hospital on Friday morning following his hospitalization for a self-inflicted gunshot wound earlier this week. The actor was seen in a wheelchair, with his leg in a cast, as he was surrounded by family, fans, and media outside the hospital.
In paparazzi videos, Govinda appeared smiling and waving at the gathered crowd, later greeting them with folded hands. His wife, Sunita, and daughter, Tina, were by his side, with Tina visibly emotional, wiping away tears as fans shouted well wishes for the actor.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when Govinda was at home, cleaning his licensed revolver before heading to the airport. The gun accidentally discharged, injuring his leg. Govinda was immediately admitted to Criticare Asia Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injury was not life-threatening.
The Mumbai police initiated an investigation, though no formal complaint was filed. The Crime Branch also conducted a parallel inquiry, recording the actor’s statement. While the authorities have ruled out foul play, reports suggest that the police are not entirely convinced with Govinda’s account of the events.
