According to police on Monday, a 21-year-old man was detained in Greater Noida for reportedly making offensive comments against the Constitution on social media.

Constitution Day was observed on Sunday when the accused allegedly made the statements on his Instagram account.

“The local Jarcha police station received a formal complaint against the suspects. Based on this, a FIR was filed, and the accused—a Bisahada village resident named Bhanu alias Jyass—was taken into custody on Sunday, according to a police spokeswoman.

According to the source, a formal complaint has been filed under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act and IPC Section 354, which deals with deliberate insult with the aim of causing breach of peace.

Sunil Kumar, the in-charge of the Jarcha police station, said to PTI that the defendant is unemployed.

“The accused will be produced before an executive magistrate for further legal proceedings,” said Kumar.
