Gujarat Titans fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has found himself at the center of a controversy after it was revealed that he had tested positive for a recreational drug during the SA20 tournament earlier this year. The revelation explains his sudden departure from the IPL 2025 season last month, when he returned to South Africa and missed nearly a month of action.
Despite the setback, the franchise has stood firmly behind the South African pacer. Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket for Gujarat Titans, has publicly voiced his support, stating that Rabada has shown remorse and is determined to move past the incident.
“Speaking about Kagiso, I’d like to just get a couple of things across,” Solanki said on Monday. “The first of which would be that Kagiso has expressed regret at an error in judgement. He’s made a telling statement. I read his statement, and I thought that his statement speaks volumes about the personality of the character that he is. He has expressed regret, as I said. But he is very much looking forward to getting back to playing the game he loves. He will take his, sort of, lessons from this and we’re just looking forward to having him back part of our group, having him back at practice. He served his time.”
Rabada, widely regarded as one of the premier fast bowlers in contemporary cricket, is now focused on putting the episode behind him and rejoining his team as they push forward in the tournament.
