But, have we ever thought that we will have a personality, who will make an impact and inspire thousands of budding sportsmen in game of “KARATE”? And the one who did this is none other than, Hanshi Premjit Sen.
Hanshi Premjit Sen is not only an inspiring sports personality in Bengal but also a successful administrator, holding the post of the President of Karate Do Association of Bengal, which has got lakhs of Karate practitioners in all the districts of West Bengal. He is also holding the prestigious post of the Joint Secretary of Karate India Organisation, which is the only authentic Karate Organisation in India, which governs the game of Karate – Do, nationally.
Apart from being conferred with the title of “Times Men of the Year 2022” in the field of Martial Arts, he had also been honoured as the “Bengal Icon 2023”. This award was given by one of our country’s leading media networks, The Times Group, for his exemplary contributions in the field of Martial Arts.
Hanshi Premjit Sen is the first Bengali to qualify as a Grade “A” Judge & Referee for both Kata & Kumite respectively by the World Karate Federation (WKF), which is an official member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He holds that same portfolio at the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) which is an affiliate of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
He has shone with his immense knowledge in the field of Karate Do and had possessed lots of experience by being a part of official events like, the World Karate Federation Premier League 2023 at Fukuoka (Japan), World Karate Federation Series A 2023 at Konya (Turkey), WKF Youth League 2023 at Fujairah (UAE) and the World Karate Federation Premier League 2023 at Cairo (Egypt). He had experienced it all
Be it the prestigious Government events like National Games or Khelo India University Games, or the Asian Games World Karate Championships, South Asian Karate Do Championships, or the Commonwealth Karate Do Championships, he had seen it all. And at the same time, he had inspired every karateka, not only in Bengal but in India, and made everyone realize the fact that, “one should always aspire to dream big.”
Accolades like winning this title had set a benchmark for all other sports who had not been in the limelight in the past. And yes, this achievement by Hanshi Premjit Sen will always remain in the hearts of all the karatekas, whom he represented at the prestigious stage.
