Hardik Hit A Six When Tilak Varma Needed Only 1 Run For His Fifty, Aakash Chopra Reacts

The Indian cricket team made a comeback in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies by winning the third T20I of the series. With this triumph, India has also kept the chances of winning the series alive for themselves. The match was played yesterday at the Providence Stadium, Guyana and the hosts are still leading by 2-1.

Batting first, West Indies put up a total of 159/5 on the scoreboard in their stipulated 20 overs. India didn’t get a good start but brilliant knocks by Surykumar Yadav (83 runs) and Tilak Varma (49* runs) helped the Indian side win the match by 7 wickets and with 13 balls remaining in the innings.

Though India won the match, many are not happy with the skipper Hardik Pandya as he promoted himself up the order in place of Sanju Samson when the chase was easy and then he smashed a six as a winning shot when the young cricketer Tilak Varma needed only 1 run to score his fifty.

The former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra also expressed surprise over Hardik’s act as he said this on his YouTube channel, “Tilak Varma, outstanding. First Indian to get 30+ scores in his first three international innings. He scored a fifty in his previous games and was close to another this time too, in fact, it should’ve been a fifty. His temperament is good, his range is good, he was aggressive at first and then was happy to play second-fiddle to Suryakumar.”

Aakash Chopra further added, “Hardik comes to bat, tells him it’s important to remain not out, don’t get carried away. Then Hardik hits aggressive hits… you don’t need NRR, it would’ve made no difference. He told Tilak to go easy, but tried to hit big shots himself. You needed 2 runs off 13 balls, and he smashed a six. I’m sure they want to build a culture that doesn’t care about individual milestones. But even a not out doesn’t really matter here, even if you were out there, you still had 12 balls there to score 2 runs. Tilak was denied a chance to score a fifty. That’s just my opinion, though”.
