Indian team captain Hardik Pandya breaks MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli’s record for most Twenty20 international wickets. But Rohit Sharma is still ahead of him in the race to become the leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals. India has levelled the series against New Zealand after winning the second match of the three-match series.
The series of three T20 matches between India and New Zealand has finally reached parity. The first match was won by New Zealand, but Team India has now levelled the series by winning the second match. The winner of the series and the trophy will be decided after the final match, which will be contested on February 1 in Ahmedabad. Although New Zealand achieved 99 runs when batting first in the second match of the series, the surface was so favourable to the spinners that even the Indian team had only face 19.5 overs, i.e. just one ball, to get 100 runs. Team India made this match their name with the time remaining.
Meanwhile, Indian team skipper Hardik Pandya has set yet another new record. He has now surpassed former captain MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, although Rohit Sharma remains ahead of him.
Hardik Pandya has now entered Team India’s list of T20 captains who have captained at least 10 matches. Hardik Pandya has won seven and lost two of the 10 matches he has captained thus far. Under his command, one match is tied. But what is the record of the rest of the Indian team captains in T20, so that you can estimate about Hardik Pandya’s captaincy?
Captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have won six of the first 10 T20 Internationals. That is, Hardik Pandya has already surpassed MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, but Rohit Sharma has won nine of his first ten matches. That is, only Rohit Sharma is ahead of him, with the remaining captains trailing. By the way, eight captains have led the Indian T20 team thus far.
Although Virender Sehwag captained the inaugural T20 International match, he only captained one match and won it. Following this, MS Dhoni was appointed as the new captain of Side India, commanding the Indian team in a maximum of 72 matches.
Although Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane were leaders of the Indian squad during this time, they were only seen in a few matches. Following this, Virat Kohli took over as captain, with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul taking turns. Hardik Pandya is expected to lead the Indian squad for a long time and will be the same captain in next year’s T20 World Cup. It remains to be seen which team would triumph in the series decider between India and New Zealand on February 1 in Ahmedabad.
