Social media sensation Urfi Javed is once again facing a barrage of online abuse, this time after emerging as a winner on the reality show The Traitors. On Friday morning, Javed took to her Instagram to share a series of screenshots from her direct messages, revealing the hateful and abusive content she’s been receiving.
In a lengthy caption accompanying the screenshots, Urfi expressed her dismay, questioning the depths to which people would stoop. She pointed out that while she’s accustomed to criticism for her fashion choices, receiving hate simply for winning a show confirms that the negativity against her seems unending.
She wrote, “When we you don’t like something a girl does, just drop the ‘R’ word. Not the first time I’ve been threatened or abused like this but this time it’s not because of my clothes but because I won a show. Imagine being so petty that when your favourite player doesn’t win you resort to abusing and threatening. These are the most decent ones I uploaded. No matter what I do, people just love hating and abusing. Harsh ko na Nikalti toh Pyar me andhi, harsh ko nikal Diya toh dhokhebaaz. Purav ko Jeetne deti toh bewakoof, nahi jeetne diya toh cheater. Hate has never stopped me before, it never will now.”
Urfi Javed, alongside Nikita Luther, was declared the co-winner of The Traitors on Thursday, July 4, with the duo taking home a prize of Rs 70.05 lakh. The Amazon Prime Video series, which began with 20 celebrity contestants and influencers, concluded with an intense finale where Javed and Luther triumphed over comedian Harsh Gujral to secure the title. Hosted by Karan Johar, The Traitors featured a notable cast including Karan Kundrra, Raj Kundra, Raftaar, Jasmin Bhasin, Anshula Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair and Sudhanshu Pandey, among others.
