Deep Dasgupta, a former wicketkeeper for the Indian cricket team, feels that star batsman Jasprit Bumrah should play in the fourth Test against England. Following the devastating defeat in the third Test, India now trails 1-2 behind in the five-match series, making the fourth Test at Old Trafford crucial. Bumrah will only play three Test matches in the series, according to the BCCI’s pre-series indication. However, given the gravity of the issue, Dasgupta stated that he should participate in the following game. Additionally, he said that Bumrah benefits from the eight-day break following the third Test, and that if India loses, the fifth Test match might be a dead rubber.

“Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test, absolutely yes. I’ve heard rumours that the plan for him was to play in the first, third and fifth Tests. But now, when India are 1-2 behind, the fourth Test becomes very, very crucial. You would want the world’s best bowler to play. There is an eight-day gap between the two Tests. It remains to be seen whether the fifth Test is still relevant after the fourth Test, but the relevance of the fourth Test is considerable,” he said on Star Sports.

While Shubman Gill’s aggressive on-field style reminds former England all-rounder Moeen Ali of Virat Kohli, Ali believes the India batter’s strategy during the Lord’s Test may have led to a more robust response from the hosts.

Gill has acted aggressively throughout the series, and his actions at Edgbaston were similar to those of Kohli after his well-known century celebration there in 2018.

“My take is, it’s fine. I think he’s just trying to be competitive in front of a fight, and very similar to Virat, I think it’s fine,” Moeen, currently featuring for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League (GSL), said during an interaction on Wednesday.

“However, the other team has done something that has truly brought out the best in England, its fighting spirit, and its potential as a beast.

Additionally, it’s a distinct aspect of England. They have demonstrated to every player that winning the series is a fantastic achievement. I have no idea why it’s being criticised.
