As the release of Sukumar’s highly awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule approaches, excitement around the Allu Arjun-led film continues to grow. With momentum building ahead of its theatrical debut, a recent report reveals intriguing details about the film’s runtime and a key sequence.
Pushpa 2 was recently reviewed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to reports, the film received a U/A certification with only minor edits and visual modifications. Positive feedback from the CBFC has further heightened expectations for this sequel to Pushpa: The Rise.
The finalized runtime of the movie is 200 minutes, equivalent to 3 hours and 20 minutes. This makes it one of the longest Indian films of 2024. For comparison:
- Kalki 2898 AD ran for 3 hours and 1 minute.
- Animal clocked in at 3 hours and 21 minutes.
Both films achieved remarkable global box office success, each grossing over ₹900 crore. With this in mind, the creators of Pushpa 2 have reason to be optimistic about audience acceptance despite its extended runtime.
The report also shed light on a standout moment in the film – the Gangamma Thalli Jathara sequence. This traditional folk festival, celebrated in parts of South India such as Chittoor and Tirupati, plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Allu Arjun’s striking look from this sequence, previously teased in posters and promotional content, has already garnered attention. CBFC members reportedly hailed this scene as one of the most captivating in the entire film.
