Here’s why number of DMs sent by non-Blue users got limited on Twitter

Twitter is restricting the amount of direct messages non-Blue users may send each day to encourage users to sign up for Twitter Blue, and Elon Musk has revealed plans to pay authors for adverts.

According to reports, Twitter will put limits on how many direct messages (DMs) non-Blue users may send each day. Twitter is working on restricting the amount of DMs before compelling users to sign up for Twitter Blue, the platform’s membership service, according to leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, who recently tweeted about this development.

The leaker released an image showing that non-Twitter Blue users who hit the predetermined limit would get a notice that reads, “Get verified to send more messages.” The notification alerts users that they have used up all of their daily DMs allotment and invites them to join up for Twitter Blue so they may continue chatting.

The present cap is 500 DMs every day, although Paluzzi believes that once the functionality is implemented, this cap may be lowered. This action tries to encourage users to sign up for Twitter Blue in order to extend their DM access.

In a similar event, Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, recently said that the service is anticipated to roll out an upgrade that would restrict users of Twitter Blue from sending Direct Messages to those who do not follow them. This feature is probably designed to provide premium service subscribers more privacy and control over their data.

Musk also disclosed plans for Twitter to pay authors on the service for the adverts that appear in their answers. This action provides content producers a potential route for remuneration and is a step toward acknowledging their worth and contribution.

These updates have not yet received Twitter’s official endorsement. However, it appears from the disclosures and Elon Musk’s comments that Twitter is actively investigating a number of ideas to improve user experience, encourage Twitter Blue subscriptions, and improve prospects for content providers on the site.
