Hindustan Coca-Cola Announces Massive ₹3000 Crore Gujarat Investment

In a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat government, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), the biggest bottling partner of Coca-Cola India, committed to investing ₹3,000 crores in the state. The purpose of this venture is to establish a new juice and aerated drink production facility in Rajkot.

The agreement is made in advance of the January 10–12, 2024, Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. According to a corporate release, the plant, which is anticipated to start operations in 2026, would complement HCCB’s current facilities in Goblej and Sanand, strengthening the business’s already substantial position in Gujarat.

With the growth, the firm will employ over 1,500 people in the state. In Gujarat, HCCB has more than 224,000 shops and over 285 distributors in its network.

With 6,000 workers, HCCB serves 2.5 million merchants and 3,500 distributors in 22 states and three union territories in India. In seven categories, the firm sells 60 goods, including popular beverage brands like Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Minute Maid, Maaza, SmartWater, Kinley, and more. The corporation oversees 16 plants.

The investment in Rajkot, according to Himanshu Priyadarshi, chief public affairs, communications, and sustainability officer at HCCB, is a major milestone in the company’s long-standing partnership with Gujarat; he emphasized mutual progress and confidence. According to him, the growth is evidence of HCCB’s dedication to developing its commercial activities and community involvement in Gujarat, as well as to the state’s potential.

HCCB had a significant increase in earnings in FY23; they more than quadrupled to ₹809.43 crores from ₹375.43 crores the year before. The business also had a 40% increase in operating revenue, hitting ₹12,840.2 crores, as a result of increased demand for its beverages during the outbreak.
