“How Does The Question Even Arise?” Ganguly On India’s Preparation For BGT 2024

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has dismissed concerns about India’s readiness for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. The five-match Test series, starting on Friday, comes with heightened expectations as India looks to extend its 10-year dominance, highlighted by two consecutive series wins on Australian soil. However, recent setbacks, including a historic 3-0 home series loss to New Zealand and several injury concerns, have fueled speculation regarding India’s preparedness.

Responding to these doubts, Ganguly rejected the idea that the team is “undercooked”. “Undercooked is a term used when you haven’t played any Test cricket at all. They have just played five Tests in the last seven weeks, so how does the question even arise?” he remarked, according to PTI. Concerns about India’s batting lineup arose particularly due to their struggles against New Zealand’s spinners during the home series.

Nevertheless, Sourav Ganguly is confident that India’s performance in Australia will not be significantly impacted by their recent defeat. He explained, “I can understand that the defeat against New Zealand was unexpected, but you have to understand we played on some extremely difficult tracks. In Australia, the tracks will be good for batting.”

Do you agree with Sourav Ganguly?
