Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan is reportedly being considered for the role of Kaleen Bhaiyya in an upcoming Mirzapur movie. Yes, you read that right—a film adaptation of the popular web series is said to be in the works. While details are still under wraps, reports suggest Hrithik is in discussions to take over the iconic character, originally played by Pankaj Tripathi, for the big-screen version.
Gurmeet Singh, the director of the Mirzapur series, addressed the rumors in an interview. While he didn’t confirm or deny Hrithik’s involvement, he hinted that the production team is working on something significant. “There hasn’t been any official announcement yet. The producers and the studio are managing this, and they will make an official statement. Only then can things be clarified,” he said.
Regarding Hrithik’s potential role, Singh remained tight-lipped, adding, “As for Hrithik, the same applies—until the higher authorities say something, I can’t reveal anything.”
The possibility of Hrithik stepping into the role of Kaleen Bhaiyya has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some fans have expressed disappointment, preferring the character to remain with Pankaj Tripathi. “If Hrithik plays Kaleen Bhaiyya, I don’t understand why he would take on a role already made iconic by another actor. He should focus on original roles where he can truly shine,” one fan wrote. Another added, “This is how they take roles from actors who made them popular in the first place.”
Pankaj Tripathi, who has portrayed Kaleen Bhaiyya in three successful seasons of Mirzapur, has yet to comment on the rumors. The show is currently gearing up for its fourth season.
