The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is going to start from today as England and New Zealand will clash against each other in the opener of the tournament which will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Yesterday, the Captain’s Day Media Event was organised in Ahmedabad where all the skippers of the participating teams were present and they answered the questions asked by the media.
The event was moderated by former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri and former England skipper Eoin Morgan. Rohit Sharma expressed his happiness over the fact that he will be leading the team in this prestigious tournament. He said, “Very lucky to be leading this team in the World Cup. I have seen the history of the tournament being played and the people who have taken part in it. So, I feel lucky to be leading India in this World Cup.”
He further added, “At the same time, it’s quite exciting and speaking of pressure, all these guys are used to that; whether they are playing in India or away. The pressure is never going to leave a sportsperson as long as you play the sport. So, keep it aside and focus on the job at hand. I know it’s very easy to say that but I’m sure, we all have prepared well which gives a lot of confidence going into any game.”
India has won the ODI World Cup two times, first in 1983 and second time in 2011 and Indian fans are very hopeful that Rohit Sharma-led team will win the World Cup for India this time.
