Bollywood icon Aamir Khan recently disclosed at a fan gathering for his acclaimed film Taare Zameen Par that his son, Junaid Khan, is dyslexic.
The actor explained that he now feels comfortable discussing this aspect of Junaid’s life as his son has already spoken about it publicly. Aamir Khan expressed a profound connection to the narrative of the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, stating that it resonated deeply with his own experiences.
Initially, he admitted to not fully comprehending Junaid’s difficulties with reading and writing, but upon understanding the condition, he extended his full support. Aamir Khan clarified that his prior silence on the matter was out of respect for Junaid’s privacy, emphasizing his belief that only Junaid had the prerogative to share his own story.
During the Taare Zameen Par fan meet, Aamir Khan stated, “I’ve never spoken about this until today. Maybe this is the first time I’m saying it. And the reason is that many years have passed. And secondly, the person I’m going to talk about has already spoken about this publicly. So now I can talk about it openly. I’m talking about Junaid – my son Junaid. It’s been 17–18 years since that film was released, and I’ve never said this until now: Junaid is dyslexic. So when I first heard the story (of Taare Zameen Par), it hit me so hard – because I’ve been through it myself. I was like Nandkishore Awasthi in the beginning (the father from Taare Zameen Par). I used to scold Junaid.”
Don’t just scold your kid, try to understand why they are facing problems in simple things.
