According to its Director-General Himanshu Pathak, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has implemented multifaceted measures to address the problems brought on by climate change. These measures, which are based on technology, would assist farmers and governments in building resilience.
Dr. Pathak stated that 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras offer advice and technical know-how to farmers for quicker adoption of new technologies in the industry while speaking to media in New Delhi on July 17 in honour of the 95th Foundation and Technology Day of the ICAR. He continued by saying that the procedures might also be applied in horticulture, natural resource management, animal husbandry, and fisheries in addition to agriculture.
He claimed that the Centre has made efforts to increase awareness of agricultural education and transform ICAR into a world-class institution of higher learning. “This will aid in the development of human resources in agriculture with capabilities that are unparalleled,” he continued. He claimed that the ICAR has always valued technological innovators in the fields of horticulture, plant protection, production systems, engineering, and education. “Efforts are made to build farmer capacity for widespread adoption of technologies for increasing production, productivity, and quality of agricultural produce and further achieving income security,” the official stated.
According to him, the ICAR has created a number of novel paddy seed kinds that would be distributed to neighbouring nations including Bangladesh and Nepal as part of the projected “Seeds Without Border” program. “ICAR institutes have contributed to the improvement of the agriculture education systems in Afghanistan and Myanmar. India is addressing the type of changes happening in the agriculture sector at the world level in response to the evolving conditions, he added.
