Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is on the road to recovery after being stabbed multiple times by an intruder at his Mumbai residence. Doctors treating him at Lilavati Hospital have confirmed that he is out of the intensive care unit (ICU) and making significant progress.
The attack took place around 2:30 am on Thursday at his Bandra West apartment, where he was stabbed six times, including a critical injury to his neck. During a five-hour-long surgery, a 2.5-inch piece of the blade was successfully removed from his spine.
Dr. Nitin Narayan Dange, who has been overseeing his treatment, shared that Saif Ali Khan’s condition is improving remarkably. He noted that the actor has already been made to walk and is experiencing minimal pain. Though Khan has been shifted from the ICU to a special room, visitor access will remain restricted for a week due to the risk of spinal infection. Despite the severity of the injury, Dr. Dange assured there is no risk of paralysis.
Lilavati Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, Niraj Uttamani, also praised Khan’s resilience, recalling how he arrived at the hospital covered in blood but refused to use a stretcher. Accompanied by his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, the actor walked into the hospital despite his injuries, earning admiration from the medical team.
Uttamani described Khan as a “real hero” for his courage and noted how fortunate he was, explaining that if the knife had penetrated just two millimeters deeper, the consequences could have been far more severe.
