Prithvi Shaw, the talented Mumbai batter, has found himself in the spotlight again, but not for the right reasons. Fresh from being left out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, Shaw has expressed his frustration over the opinions being circulated about his behavior and fitness. A Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official recently claimed that Shaw was excluded from the 50-over domestic tournament due to concerns over his attitude, discipline, and physical fitness.
The anonymous official stated that during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Shaw’s fitness issues were apparent. “We were practically playing with 10 fielders because we had to hide him in the field. The ball would pass near him, and he couldn’t reach it. Even while batting, he seemed uncomfortable,” said the official. He emphasized that poor fitness and discipline have no place in professional cricket, adding that even senior players have raised concerns about Shaw’s attitude.
Reacting to these allegations, Shaw posted a cryptic message on Instagram, saying, “If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many people have full opinions with half the facts.” Earlier, Shaw also shared his stats online to express his disappointment over not being included in Mumbai’s squad.
The MCA official further claimed that Shaw often skipped training sessions, sometimes arriving early in the morning after late nights out. He added that Shaw’s social media outburst about his non-selection would have little impact on the selectors.
